  Spanish Moss Information   (170 reads)
Spanish moss, sometimes called Grandfather's Graybeard or Florida Moss, is soft, graceful, eerie and beautiful all at the same time. A romantic symbol of the South, it is greenish silver after a rain, and grayish-silver at other times. Spanish moss can grow strands up to 20 feet long especially on Live Oak and Cypress tree branches.

They Just Go Together

Camping and astronomy are two of my favorite pastimes. I love to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life and surround myself with the wonders of nature. The silence of a clear morning sunrise is not something we get to experience often enough these days. Daily hiking and biking allow me to stretch my legs in ways my regular schedule does not allow. I can de-stress, relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery which you don't get to see in the city.

Astronomy is high on my list of ways to spend my time. For those of you with a similar mindset, there is no better way to observe the night sky than from a remote campsite or on my 28 foot high observation tower. Far from the overwhelming light pollution of major cities, remote campsites offer some of the best observing opportunities left in the industrialized world. Here, star-filled skies are the norm. The Milky Way stretches overhead from horizon to horizon. The constellations you know and love are lost in the infinite number of stars that seem to fill the sky. As we're just now coming into the warmer months, I'd urge you to make plans to get yourself out under the darkest skies you can find. Be sure to plan your trip so that the moon is in a smaller and/or later rising phase. I prefer last quarter through just past new. The last quarter moon is 1/2 illuminated (and shrinking nightly) and it doesn't rise until after midnight. This leaves all the hours from sunset until moonrise as the darkest hours of the night. As I'm typically pretty wiped after a long week of work, these are about the only hours I can be guaranteed to be awake.

  Veterans   (3174 reads)

I'm a member of the national Paralyzed Veterans Association of Florida. Being a United States Army combat vet, I would like to reach out to all vets and military members and discuss offering this secret sanctuary.

This land is the perfect retreat for groups or for vets to soothe PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) or just enjoy the great outdoors and all of the wonderful natural amenities in this area. You can go hiking, bike riding, horseback riding, or just sit back and enjoy nature and its beauty.

By the way, I assure you, I have learned and would like to share with fellow vets how to regain peace of mind and live above and beyond mankind's rat race and all the human arrogance. I can show you how to go to the next level, keeping a special balance and understanding with Mother Nature and regaining a new profound serenity and a higher level of consciousness. Earth's natural life force energy can be channeled into the most powerful positive healing energy. Let me show you how to heal your wounds.

Thanks for your time and I hope to speak with you soon.
